special relationships to pick only top-notch wines, that are not
only of unquestioned quality, but also the best value we could find
for you.
The following special packages are offered with basic packaging for shipping
directly to you. For only $10 more, we will package this in the style
of our elegant gift boxes, in fire-branded wooden boxes, beautiful
nesting material, personalized letter, and more.
Prosser Pair
1 - 2005 DavenLore Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml)
1 - 2006 Airfield Estates Merlot (750ml)
The cab from
DavenLore exudes black cherry and currant, accented with a hint of pipe tobacco and smoke. American oak delivers a savory chocolate finish with a touch of cedar. A bit of Merlot in the blend softens the big Cab resulting in a smooth robustness.
Airfield's full-bodied Merlot exudes complexity with primary fruit characteristics
of deep, black cherry layered with earthy truffles and a hint of cloves and
herbal notes. This wine is sold out at the winery.

Airfield Estates Reserve Duo
1 - 2006 Airfield Estates Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml)
1 - 2006 Airfield Reserve Syrah (750ml)
The Miller's have been growing wine
grapes for many of the state's best wineries for decades. Now they are producing
premium wines, and we've picked two of the best for you. The Reserve Syrah
displays an ink black color with dark fruit and floral notes that swirl around
amidst smoky flavors from being aged in new Hungarian oak barrels for nine
months. The robust Cab was aged for 18 months in French Oak. With immense
palate depth, this wine encompasses aromas of boysenberry and violet
and deep flavors of boysenberry, black currant, and black tea.

Young Winemakers Select
1 - 2005 Stevens 424 (750ml)
1 - 2005 Two Mountain Reserve Cabernet Franc (750ml)
Both
of these winemakers began commercially with the 2002 vintage.
Tim Stevens' 424 is his signature red blend (Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, & Merlot) which quickly
sells out each vintage. This '05 was no exception. Scored 91 by Wine Enthusiast,
all 275 cases are gone, but we still have a few for you.
Another big Cab Franc, this '05 Reserve by Matt Rawn of
Two
Mountain offers
deep aromas of ripe berries, toasted French oak, roasted meats and vanilla
are followed by pleasing flavors of blackberry, dark cherries, allspice and
soft velvety tannins.

Big Red Box
1 - 2004 Betz Père de Famille (750ml)
1 - 2004 Stevens XY (750ml)
No,
the box isn't big and red! The wines are! What a treat to compare these two
2004 cabs from Yakima Valley fruit and two of the best winemakers in the Northwest.
Stevens
XY is Tim's big reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Awarded 92 pts. by Wine Enthusiast,
it was in French oak for 20 months. "
Dark and dense, yet somehow soft and approachable, this 100% is once again loaded with rich black fruits. Everything is in balance, with a captivating tension strung between the fruit, acid and tannins. This is a wine you can’t keep your lips off."
The Père de Famille, from
Betz
Family Winery, is also Cabernet Sauvignon.
Steve Tanzer, of the International Wine Cellar newsletter, scored this 93+ pts. "
Bright,
deep ruby-red. Musky, minerally, spicy aromas of blackberry, blueberry, leather
and tree bark. Quite penetrating on the palate, with terrific intensity and cut
to the black cherry and currant flavors."
You probably won't be able to find these wines anywhere else.

1 - 2004 Père de Famille (750ml)
1 - 2005 Père de Famille (750ml)
*****
#1 wine of 2008 *****
You may already know that
Bob
Betz holds the degree of
Master
of Wine, an achievement attained only rarely. His talents are evident when
you first swirl this magnificent Cabernet Sauvignon. And here, you can put
two vintages side by side and compare.
The '04 is a varietal blend in line with previous years, 78% Cabernet
Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, 8% Merlot, 3% Petite Verdot and 2% Cabernet
Franc. Grapes were harvested from Red Mountain and the Horse Heaven Hills. Bob
says, "
We're used to the terrific concentration and intensity of our
Red Mountain fruit (Ciel du Cheval and Klipsun Vineyards) but this vintage the
Horse Heaven fruit (Alder Ridge Vineyard) was equally concentrated yet without
the tannic dominance of Red Mountain. The two appellations blended seamlessly
(64% to 36%)."
The '05 is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 8% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot
and 2% Malbec to soften Cabernet’s
tannins, but they can’t hide its sweet aroma and flavor: black currants,
minerals and a structure that gives it both density and lift. Mostly Red Mountain
fruit, 63%, with 21% coming from the Horse Heaven Hills and 16% from the Yakima
Valley.
Paul Gregutt named this wine #1 of the top 100 wines of 2008!
